Spiritual Tour of Ladakh

Day 01: Arrive Leh

On arrival at Leh airport meet our executive and transfer to pre booked hotel/Guest house for relax and acclimatisation. This is necessary for getting acclimatised at high altitude. Evening one can visit the color full market of Leh. Overnight in the hotel/guesthouse.

Day 02 :Leh – Shey – Thiksey – Hemis

On this day you will go a sightseeing trip to some ancient monasteries in this area.

SheyGompa is about 15 kms from Leh. It used to be the summer palace of the kings of Ladakh. There are lots of Stupas and Gompas built around the palace. Shey palace was built by DeldanNamgyal in the beginning of 17'Th century AD. Main attraction in Shey is the 12m Shakyamuni Buddha statue inside the DresthangGompa.

ThikseyGompa, close to Shey is about 17 kms from Leh. The monastery is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Ladakh and belongs to the Gelukspa order.

Hemis, about 45 kms south of Leh it is one of the most famous and largest monastery in Ladakh. It belongs to the Drukpa order and was founded in the early 17'Th century. The setting is perfect with the monastery cradled in a lovely valley, surrounded by streams and fronted by long Mani walls. Overnight stay at the guest house.

Day 03 :Leh – Nubra Valley (125 kms/05 hrs)

After breakfast you will be met by our representative and drive to Nubra Valley. Drive past world's highest motorable road at Khardung la Pass, said to be one of the highlights of any Leh, Ladakh tour. Khardung la pass : The road journey to Nubra valley leads through Khardung La Pass (The highest Motorable road in the world) 18,390 ft. around 39 Kms. Away from Leh. There are two checkpoints on the both sides of the pass. Khardung is the first village of Nubra valley at higher altitude than Diskit and other villages.

Nubra Valley- TheNubra means Ldumra (the valley of flowers), situated in the north of Leh. The average altitude of the valley is about 10,000 ft. above the sea level. The main attraction in this area is Bactarian Camels (Shaggy double hump Camel) around sand dunes, Diskit&Samstanling monasteries and Khardung la Pass (18,380 feet.) above sea level. On arrival at Nubra, you will be check in to guest house/camp.

Later in the afternoon, you will be picked up and taken a guided sightseeing tour of Nubra Valley. Tour includes visits following places of interest:

Diskitvillage :Diskit is the main village of headquarter of Nubra valley, which has a small market consisting of a row of shops and about 500 years old Gompa on the hilltop. Spectacular view of the valley can be seen from the monastery.

DiskitGompa :DiskitGompa was founded by Lama SherabZangpo of Stod in about 1420 AD during the reign of King Dragspa. About 100 monks are residing in the Gompa, which is a branch of Thiksey Monastery. The monastic festival called Gustor takes place on 20th and 21st days of the 12th month of Tibetan calendar.

Hundarvillage :Hundar is a beautiful village to stay with lot of trees and you will really enjoy your stay at Hundar. It has a small monastery and ruined fort above the village. The walk or Camel Safari (Double Hump bacterian camels) from Hundar to Diskit, through sand dunes for two hours is wonderful. Overnight in Nubra.

Day 04 :Nubra Valley – Leh (125 kms/05 hrs)

Morning after breakfast visit Samstanling Monastery then drive back to Leh, once again driving via Khardung la pass the World Highest Motorable road.

On arrival at Leh, you will be met by our representative and assisted with check in formalities. Evening explore Leh bazaar for souvenir, visit LehJokhang or Leh Mosque by foot. Overnight in Leh.

Day 05 : Depart Leh

In the morning after breakfast transfer to Leh airport.
